Il suo nome è Kelly Sildaru, la new entry del team Bliss!Abbiamo chiaccherato con lei la scorsa settimana e vi abbiamo tirato fuori una super intervista! Ciao Kelly! Sappiamo che hai solo 9 anni! Questo rappresenta l’inizio della tua carrier da rider… ma nonostante questo sei già molto ricercata dagli sponsor! Uno di questi è Bliss Level Gloves! Qual è il primo brand che ti ha cercato?
Avevo solo sei anni quando il distributore locale Nike ha deciso di supportarmi dandomi materiale gratuito! Così anche K2 e Spy! Il mio primo vero contratto l’ho firmato con K2 due anni fa… mi hanno cercato dopo aver visto il mio footage, nello stesso modo è andata per Bliss Level Gloves e Spy poi in seguito!

Qual è la prima volta che hai messo gli sci ai piedi? Puoi ricordarti il primo trick che hai chiuso, o meglio il tuo primo approccio con il freestyle?
Ho messo gli sci ai piedi quando avevo due anni e all’età di cinque ho cominciato con i primi saltini! Niente male eh?

Sappiamo che vivi a Tallin! C’è tanta gente li che pratica freestyle?
No, diciamo che fanno quasi tutti Cross-country skiing, anche perché la nostra montagna più alta misura 318 metri! Però quando la gente ha voglia di freestyle si sposta in Finlandia o in Lituania!

Ora stai crescendo, ma quando hai cominciato a prendere lo sci seriamente? Ti ricordi il tuo primo contest?
Negli ultimi due anni sicuramente mi ci sono concentrata di più, ma non si può dire che lo stia facendo a livello professionistico! Nel 2009 ho preso parte al mio primo slopestyle contest in Svezia! Ho battuto anche i bambini! Lo stesso anno ho anche partecipato a una gara in Finlandia..e ho vinto anche quella..sono stata fortunata!

Preferisci sciare con i tuoi amici, genitori o con il tuo allenatore? Com’è una tua giornata tipica di training?
Preferisco girare con tutti! Però qui di solito non ci sono ragazzini della mia età che vengono a girare con me, quindi mi tocca girare con persone 4 volte più vecchie! Solitamente comunque vado a sciare con mio fratello sotto la supervisione di mio padre!

Hai tutte le possibilità per diventare una super skier! Qual è lo spot dove ti alleni di solito?
Solitamente vado nei park del nord-europa che anche se non sono molto grossi sono comunque ben attrezzati… e dotati di skilift per girare più volte!

Sappiamo che il tuo diario è pieno di appuntamenti! Come ti organizzi tra scuola e contest?
Per adesso in realtà non giro ancora abbastanza! Quando non ci sono comunque le maestre mi danno i compiti da fare a casa! In ogni caso mi sostengono e sono comprensive!

Cosa ti piace fare oltre a sciare ed andare a scuola?
Il mio nuovo hobby è il basket! Ma ci sono tante cose che mi piace fare in realtà tipo il nuoto, lo skate, andare in bici, fare wake e tante altre cose!

Cosa pensi delle altre ragazze e della situazione freestyle in Estonia?
Sicuramente stà prendendo sempre più piede… ma qui non abbiamo nè le condizioni nè le strutture… e poi la stagione invernale è troppo corta per potersi allenare seriamente!

Chi vorresti ringraziare oggi per essere arrivata fino a qui?
Sicuramente tutti quelli che hanno creduto in me nonostante la mia età… come: Bliss by Level, Nike 6.0, K2, Spy, Marker, Mariine Auto, Alexela, Dalbello, Ortovox!

Hi Kelly! We know that you are 9 years old! This the beginning of your career, of course, but you have already a lots of sponsors! One of it, is Bliss Level Gloves! What was the first brand that was looking for you?
I was almost six when somehow local Nike distributor decided to support me by giving me free products, same with local K2 and Spy Optics. First international contract was signed with K2 two year ago, after they liked my second footage “fairy tale”, also Level Gloves and Spy Optics came to picture internationally when they saw this footage.

How old were you the first time that you have worn a skis? Can you remember your first trick, or better, your first approach with freestyle?
First skiing steps were made when I was two years old, first experience with freestyle was at age five, I think, in Sweden when I tried little rainbow and small jumps.

We know that currently you are living inTallin! Are there so many spots and so many people which are practicing this kind of activity in your town?
Cross-country skiing is more popular in Estonia, our highest mountain is 318m above sea level, we have few small parks that are almost enough but for better conditions we go to Finland or Latvia on weekends.

Now you are growing up… but when did you start to take skiing seriously? Do you remember your first competition, was it successfully or not?
Seriously, how seriously? Last year or two have been more focused, but not as much as professional are. Year 2009 in Sweden was my first slopestyle comp, I competed with boys, there was one Swedish boy, about my age, he gave me a good battle, but I defeated him and won the prize all the boys out there dreamed to win, elecrtical formels racing track. In same spring I managed to win comp in Finland Sappee too, so I guess I have been lucky.

Do you prefer ride with your friends, parents or coach? How is a typical training day?
I prefer having all of them around me. Since freestyle skiing isn`t so popular here I don`t meet many skiers who are at the same age as I, because of that my best skiing buddy is four times older. Typical day passes skiing with my brother under father supervision.

You have all the features to become one of the most important riders! Which is the spot that you choose in order to have the daily training and to push your limit up?
I choose North-Europe parks, because they are most productive, not very big, but still with many different obstacles and with their own skilift what means many runs per day.

We know that your diary is full of competition and training meetings! How are you managing your school time between competition and training?
I haven`t been missing very much yet, but as I do I ask assignments from my teachers and do all the same thing as others only difference is that I do them abroad and that keeps me from falling behind others. Most of my teachers are very supportive and understanding.

What are your main hobbies beside skiing and after your schoolmcommitments?
My newest hobby is basketball, I even joined training, but besides that I have too many things I like, I think. For example swimming, skating, cycling, wakeboarding and so on.

What do you think about the other riders and about the Estonian skiing situation?
Freestyle skiing popularity has increased during the last years, but I think it won`t too much, we just don`t have that kind of conditions, besides season is very short, approximately three months.
